Sorry that I have been such a slacker with the blogging. I have no good excuses, especially since I am home ALL the time.
I am having a great Christmas so far.
Yesterday Curt worked from home and Mama got home from work early. We had our Christmas feast and then opened presents. I got some fun new catnip toys. But I have to say the ribbon from the gifts is the best.
Check out some pics:
First picture is Mama and me in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. Second picture is me enjoying my new toys and the ribbon. Third picture is me in front of the Christmas tree last night and fourth is me in front of the Christmas tree this morning.
Have a great day everyone! Meow!

My love for the carrot
I love my carrot. This is the second carrot Mama have given me. And I can now show you and share with you my love since we have the Internet back at home.
I was wondering if I was gonna have to sneak out of the house and head to a coffee shop to blog. But luckily I can stay in the safety of my nice, warm, cozy home.
I mean, sometimes I get locked in the laundry room. And it is cold in there! I like to explore and sometimes Mama forgets to check if I have snuck in there.

An ounce
So Mama took me to the vet this morning for a nail trim. I absolutely hate having my feet touched. I make it impossible for Mama to cut my nails. So instead she and Curt have to trick me and shove me into the little carrier. Mama usually takes me to Petsmart.
But I heard her tell Curt that the vet is closer and more convenient. And the whole ordeal is easier and less stressful on all of us even if the vet does charge more than Petsmart. We also know we are dealing with a little bit more of professionals.
Mama asked them to weigh me since I have been on a lower calorie food lately. I lost a whole ounce. I mean, better than gaining right.
Do you think they have Weight Watchers for cats?

Weekend guests
So Curt was out of town last week and it was just me and Mama. Ahhh. Lovely.
Then Saturday night Stefan and Sandra showed up. Yippee! More people to love me and pet me. Late Saturday night Stefan, Sandra and Mama left. When they came back they had Curt with them. So we had major family time plus.
Stefan and Sandra left yesterday and life is back to normal.
Thanks for the visit guys!

Bring back the youngling
My friend Lexi visited me over the weekend. I love when she comes to visit. She gives me treats and lots and lots of brushing (way more than Mama!!!). She spent the night on Saturday and I cuddled with her part of the night on the futon. I also was a major cuddle bug with her on the couch, too, which is evident in the above picture.
I love you Lexi! Come back and visit soon.

Family Time
I realize some of my faithful readers are waiting for the pic I promised. And I promise I will post that at some point.
But now to my intended post: Family Time.
My family consists of my mama, Curt and me. We are a good family of three. We are all happy with it. Well, Curt tries to pretend that I am a nuisance. But deep down I know he loves me.
Sometimes Curt will be in the spare room/office on the computer and Mama will go in the room to talk to him. I also run in for some Family Time.
Mama or Curt will walk into the bedroom and then the other one walks in. So I jet in there and jump on the bed (to be in the middle of all of it) for some ... Family Time.
I didn't know what Family Time was until Mama and Curt started calling it that if all of us were in the same room. And they don't seem to reference Family Time until I join them.
Are you up for some Family Time?

My first meeting with Zipper
So I was gonna post a pic of me lounging around the house on Friday but I am having some issues. Oh well. I will post it later I guess.
Anyway, Friday was a crazy day. First Curt worked from home in the morning and then left. Mama had left for yoga and then she came back a little before 9 a.m. I thought she was supposed to go to work!!!! She ended up working from home in the morning.
But the real clincher was when my grandpa and Hilda came by with their dog, Zipper. Zipper was very curious and wanted to sniff me a lot. I wasn't too sure about him. I never swiped at him. But I was tempted. I mean, what is this furry thing doing in my house?
At one point we were all in the spare room/office. Grandpa had to print something. I decided I didn't want to hang out with all of those people anymore. And I was tired of being sniffed by that hairy guy. So I walked out. When I do I hear Zipper whimpering and trying to find me. HA! He wanted to play with me and I wanted to NOT play with him.
Once they left it was much more calm around my house and I was at peace again.
Check back for my great pic.

Locked out
So yesterday Mama and Curt's landlord came over to the house. She had the sprinkler man put in new sprinklers. The timer is in the same closet as my litterbox. (You see where this story is going?)
When they left they completely closed the door to the closet. They locked me out of my own bathroom! And I don't know how to use the human toilet. I held it for as long as I could and then I just had to go ... No. 2. Which is much easier for humans to clean up than cat pee.
I heard Curt telling Mama the story that when he came home he said it smelled like sh.. in the house. He then took the trash bins out front for garbage day. When he came back in it still smelled like sh.. and then he saw the nice pile I left on the carpet near the closed closet.
So Curt cleaned it up and then Mama did a second clean up when she got home. And now all is good.

Teeth cleaning
So today I got my teeth cleaned. I wondered why my food bowl was so empty through the night. I tried telling Mama I wanted it filled up. But she didn't seem to get it.
Everything seemed fine this morning ... well, except for the fact that I didn't have any food in my bowl. And then I started to get suspicious when Mama was just sitting around. What was she waiting for? Ah, Curt. Then I was off. I knew they wanted to stuff me into that little box. I darted to the spareroom/office behind the futon. They got me out of there and I ran to the kitchen under the table. But Mama got me and they stuffed me in the carrier.
Even tho. I hate getting in that carrier the people at the vet's office are really nice to me. I had a nice cage to sleep in. Dr. Wright was super cool and she didn't even have to pull any of my teeth.
By the time Mama picked me up I was myself again and ready to go. She brought me home and gave me some food. I was pretty hungry.
You can see me here munching away. You can also see my bandage. They had to shave a spot on my leg for my IV and it was a little bloody. But I am just about back to my old self now.

Not as bad
So I had to go to the vet again yesterday. I also went last week. And last week the rumor was I was going be put under, get my teeth cleaned and possible extractions. Well, that didn't happen because something was up with my heart.
I went back to the vet yesterday for my ultrasound. I had an ultrasound and another EKG. It seems that I have a mild thickening of the heart. No one seems too concerned. But we are waiting to find out what my cardiologist has to say once they look at my findings. Mama thinks I will have to take medicine. And I hate taking medicine.
I wasn't as mad at her this time as I was last week. I hope she noticed I refused to cuddle with her for days. I mean, she takes my food away, she and Curt stuff me in that horrible little carrier and then I go to the vet and am tortured all day. Yesterday the torture was minimal and I was without food for a much smaller amount of time.
Do you think I will have to go back to the vet soon? I hope not.

Well, today sucked
First of all, some time last night Mama took my food away. Why would she do that? I kept waking her up during the night to let her know my food bowl was nowhere to be found and I wanted to eat.
Then this morning after Curt woke up they put me into my carrier, which I just hate. Then Mama drove me to the vet's office. I think I heard that I was supposed to get my teeth cleaned and apparently I can't eat after 9 p.m. before that happens. I mean, who in the heck came up with that rule? What a jerk!
So my doctor hooked me up to some machines. After that they had to call Mama about some stuff. Apparently, it appears that I have an abnormality on my heart. My blood pressure was good, so it may be nothing. But my doc wants to make sure I am OK before they put me under. My cardiologist will perform the ultrasound next week.
I did get my nails trimmed and a mat brushed out of my tummy--one that Mama and Curt just couldn't get to.
I was also starving, so they finally fed me!
Mama came to pick me up and apologized for my crappy day. She said she would give me a beer if I liked it. But I don't. I got lots of treats and have been promised I will get a lot of brushing.
Meow!

I am an A+ kinda kitty
Ruff Ruff sent my mama my report card. I got an A+ and yes, I am bragging. I love when Bettina and Joey (ha! we share a first name) come to take care of me. (I also loved when Grandpa and Hilda took care of me. Hilda brushed me every day. I love her!)
Anyway, check out my awesome report card:

Shhhh
Grandpa and Hilda are sleeping right now. So I thought I would sneak into the office and blog for a bit.
So I miss Mama and Curt. But Ruff Ruff took great care of me the first few days. And now Grandpa and Hilda are here. I have been following Hilda around a lot. I investigated her suitcase and her toiletries. I really like her.OK, back to bed. Hope you are having a great time Mama and Curt. And even tho. I don't like beer, have one for me.

2-week party?
So Mama and Curt took off yesterday for vacation. I will miss them. But I am excited for Ruff Ruff Pet Care to come take care of me. Also part of the time my grandpa and Hilda are coming to hang out with me. I hope Mama told them where the treats and brush are.
I am sure Mama and Curt are having a good time. Tho. I hear the weather isn't so nice. And it is beautiful here.

Go Joey! It's my Birthday!
Today I turn 14. Mama and I have been together for almost 14 years. She got me when I was 6 weeks old. Can you believe someone threw me and my litter in a Dumpster!?!? Jerks! But at least I found my Mama after that.
Mama and Curt gave me an Eggplant catnip toy this morning. I was a little skeptical at first. But I warmed up to it. I also got treats this morning. I love you Mama!

What gives?
Mama and Curt have really been laying on the torture lately. Curt grabs me and Mama smears some nasty tasting stuff on my lips. Blech! I am forced to lick it off--I mean, what else can I do? I got no thumbs to grab a napkin and wipe that crap off.
Mama also rubs some weird stuff on my right eye. She is quite sneaky about it.
Well, last night was the ultimate torture. Curt grabbed me. Mama rubbed that nasty stuff on my lips. While I was gagging on that, she rubbed the other stuff on my eye.
I got my revenge. I stabbed Curt in the lip with my nail! Ha! Take that you jerks!

Happy Birthday Month to ME!!!!
Here's a shot of me when Mama came home from work one day. She doesn't like me to sit in this window because the coffee pot is right there and she doesn't want me to knock it over and break it and hurt myself on the glass. But I am careful. And don't I look so cute? I know Mama couldn't resist taking my picture.
Today my vet sent me an e-mail wishing me a Happy Birthday this month. It is such a nice e-mail that I want to share it:
Dear JOEY,
We heard a rumor that someone very special is having a birthday thismonth -- you! We hope it's a memorable one, full of fun and hugs fromyour favorite humans. Here's wishing you a happy and healthy birthday and many more to come.Oh, and one more thing -- let your favorite human handle the birthdaycandles!
Sincerely,

I'm still here
Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't blogged in a long time. I would say it is because I am busy. But we all know that isn't true. I am lazy--plain and simple.
After events today I felt a post was in order.
Mama and Curt tricked me. Mama pretended like she was holding me and cuddling. And then I heard Curt open the closet door. That meant one of two things: they were either getting out the vacuum or the cat carrier. I hate BOTH of them! I tried to get out of Mama's arms. I even punched my paw into her throat. She was coughing, but, dang it, she wouldn't let go of me.
They put me into the carrier and Mama took me to the vet. Can you believe the vet is open on a Sunday? What kind of place is that?
While Mama and I waited in the exam room I did some exploring. (See pics below.) The vet came in and asked Mama some questions and then she checked my heart and lungs. Good. Checked my teeth--not so good. I am gonna have to go back and have them cleaned. (I have been through that before.) Can you believe the vet mentioned I am overweight? I weigh in at 16 pounds 12 ounces. Everything looked good. My right eye gets watery sometimes. I have herpes--but don't get grossed out. It isn't the same in cats as in people. Mama is gonna have to feed me something and put something in my eye. You know that is gonna suck!
I had some blood work done, my shots, got a dewormer, etc. And I get to go back at some point for my teeth cleaning.
So, not such a great day. After I finish this post I am gonna go hide.
Mama took some pics of me while I was exploring, via her iPhone. It takes pretty good pics. I know how to open drawers and cupboards. I was trying really hard to open the cabinets at the vet's office. In the fifth picture you can see that I found something good--the trash opening. I got in there a few times and every time I did Mama pulled me out.
Mama also took a pic of a poster in the room. I am almost 14 years old. So for people I am in my 70s. I am still pretty frisky in my old age.

My Grandma's here!
So my grandma is visiting this weekend. It is quite exciting. She pets me and talks to me. It is wonderful. Plus she got her on Friday while Mama and Curt were still at work. So she opened the blinds for me to look out while sitting on my kitty perch.
We are having so much fun.

Super Bowl Sunday was SUPER!!!
Aileen gave me lots of attention and loving. I pretended like I am deprived and Mama and Curt barely pet me. Hee hee!
Aileen hugged me, petted me and loved me. But being a cat after awhile I was done with her touching me. Eventually I had to give her a little nibble and a hiss. I made it as nasty sounding as possible so everyone would know I was serious!

PARTAY!
Mama and Curt took off for Tahoe this weekend. So I got the house to myself.
I will be cuddling with the Curious George fleece that Auntie Sue made me. :)
And I will be licking and rubbing my chili pepper and string bean.
Have a good weekend! I know I will.

Mama's back!
I am so happy Mama is home. When she came home I kept telling her to giving me some damn treats ... (expletive)!!!!!
I mean she left me alone with Curt. And that jerk didn't give me any treats all weekend.
Mama was nice and gave me lots of treats.
For your pure enjoyment here is a picture of me on my new kitty window ledge:

I LOVE boxes!
Mama is out of town this weekend. I think she went to visit our little friend Ollie.
So it's just Curt and me.
Curt bought a bunch of snowboarding stuff today and there are boxes EVERYWHERE. I like boxes. Fun to jump in and hide.
I am starting to enjoy my kitty ledge more now. I am still a little weary of it. But it is quite comfy.
I think Mama comes home tomorrow. YEAAA!

Torture
So Mama and Curt have been kinda mean lately.
Yes, they did buy me a kitty ledge. I am not sure if I like it yet. I will update blog post later with a pic of me on it.
Anyway, Sunday they shoved me in the little box. I hate getting in that thing. Because it means torture when they pull me out. Mama and I first headed to Petsmart for me to get a "nail trim," aka torture. Mama tells me it is for my own good. When my nails get too long I start to get stuck on and in things and that is no fun at all. At Petsmart that day there was no one there who could trim a cat's nails. I could tell Mama was upset about that. She worries about stressing me out by shoving me in that little box.
So we headed to Petco next. And I guess lucky for everyone there was someone there who could cut my nails. I hate having my feet touched and I hate having my nails trimmed. But it is necessary.
I did get treats when we got home and that was nice.
Then last night the torture continued with my Advantage dose. Curt always holds me and Mama's squirts that stuff on my neck. I just hate it. They say it is for my own good. In my lifetime (13 1/2 years) I have only had fleas twice. And both times were just miserable. So I guess it is for my own good.
Why can't someone invent a treat with an Advantage dose?

Scared ya!
So I was starting to get used to this being home all day by myself thing. And then Curt decided to work from home today. I think it has something to do with the rain.
We can hear the wind and rain pounding on our house.
Earlier Curt came around the corner from the office/spareroom and I was sitting on a little table. I wanted to let him know I was there so I meowed/squeaked to alert him. Apparently he had work on the brain and I really scared him. Hee hee.
Meow!

Where's Mama????
So for about 2 weeks or something Mama has been home every day. I love cuddling with her to watch TV. Especially with her new throw from Auntie Sue.
Mama would sometimes go out for a few hours. But not for long. Today she has been gone since about 7:45 this morning. And I saw her leaving with her gym bag--so who knows when she will get home?
At least I have my chili pepper and string bean to keep me entertained.
I guess life is back to normal ... or almost ... we still have the Christmas tree up, which I like to sit behind and look at the pretty lights.
